Fully Involved: An important update from us. 7.12.25

Fire Service Leaders,

This symposium is next week and we have plenty of room.

There is absolutely no question that the number one killer of active and retired law enforcement officers and firefighters is heart disease. The average age of a police officer who suffers a heart attack is 46, and the life expectancy of men and women in uniform is more than 22 years less than the general population. Published data shows that, between the ages of 55 and 60, the chance of a civilian dying from a heart attack is 1.6%. However, within populations of police officers and firefighters, it is 56%. Join Dr. Stone for an in-depth overview of the early detection model, specific to public safety, that he and his team are creating in an effort to permanently change these shocking statistics.

In his presentation, Dr. Stone will outline the scope of heart disease within public safety occupations and will discuss why it appears to be so prevalent within high-stress occupations. The presentation will involve a complete breakdown of cardiac disease within public safety occupations. Each participant will leave with a renewed understanding of the prerequisite diagnostics necessary to properly identify cardiac risk specific to occupations of public safety.

There will be two sessions on July 16, 2025. To sign up use the following links:

Drip Drop Hydration

Application Period Now Open for the DripDrop Hydration Giveback Campaign

200,000 sticks of DripDrop electrolyte powder to be donated, in partnership with the NVFC

The application period for the 2025 DripDrop Hydration Giveback Campaign is now open. For the sixth year, DripDrop has partnered with the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) to provide 200,000 electrolyte sticks to volunteer fire departments to keep responders hydrated during wildfires, summer heat, long incidents, and more. A total of 1,000 volunteer fire departments will receive 2 cases (200 sticks) each of electrolyte powder.

Firefighters work in high-heat, high-stress environments while wearing hefty gear and carrying heavy equipment. Without the proper precautions, this can lead to dehydration and heat related injuries. DripDrop is fast, proven hydration that works to replenish lost fluids and electrolytes quickly, so responders can perform at their best, both physically and mentally.

“We are thrilled to continue our partnership with DripDrop electrolyte powder to make sure that volunteer departments have the resources they need to protect their responders from dehydration and avoid heat-related illness and injury,” said NVFC Chair Steve Hirsch. “Local volunteer departments often have to stretch every penny, and this donation will ensure that they are able to provide critical hydration to those who keep their communities safe.”

“We’re honored to collaborate with the National Volunteer Fire Council for the sixth year in a row to support volunteer fire departments across the U.S.,” said John Shea, Chief Marketing Officer at DripDrop Hydration. “It’s a privilege to have earned the trust of firefighters nationwide, and we’re proud to help power their heroic efforts to ensure their communities stay safe.

The application period closes at 8pm ET on July 22. Apply at www.dripdrop.com/NVFC-2025.

To be eligible to apply, departments must meet the following criteria:

  • At least one member of the department must be an active member of the NVFC. Member name and email address used for NVFC portal login must be provided. If you don’t know your member status, click here to find out. Learn about member benefits and join here.
  • The department must be over 50% volunteer; paid on-call is considered volunteer.
  • The department must be located in the U.S. and legally organized under state law.
  • A physical address must be provided for shipping; product cannot be shipped to P.O. Boxes. Entries with a P.O. Box will be disqualified.
  • Recipients must use the donation for the benefit of their department and not for any other purpose; cannot be resold.
  • Recipients agree that their department name, details from application, and photo may be used in media by DripDrop and the NVFC for the purposes of promoting the program.
  • Only one application will be accepted per department; any subsequent applications received for that department are ineligible.
  • Please note: Priority consideration will be given to departments that respond to wildfires and those that did not receive a donation in 2024.
