Call to Action: Support Georgia Firefighters Pension Reform on February 3

Good afternoon,

We are pleased to share an important legislative update that directly impacts Georgia firefighters.

On Tuesday, February 3, at 1:00 PM, Senator Albers will formally present the results of the study recommending changes to the Georgia Firefighters Pension Fund rules. The proposed change would allow firefighters to continue working while collecting their pension under the Rule of 80, a significant step toward strengthening firefighter benefits across the state.

The presentation will take place before a legislative subcommittee in Room 310 of the Coverdale Building, located adjacent to the Georgia State Capitol.

This presentation coincides with Georgia Firefighter Appreciation Day, and we are strongly encouraging firefighters from across the state to attend in uniform to show visible support for the bill and its advancement through the legislative process. A strong turnout will send a powerful message about the importance of this issue to Georgia’s fire service.

Your presence matters, and we hope you will consider attending to support this important effort on behalf of all Georgia firefighters.

Thank you for your continued dedication and advocacy.

Sincerely,

Mike Byrd, M.S., CFO, EFO
