The Georgia Fire Academy is hosting the following direct delivery courses from the National Fire Academy in October. The WUI for The Structural Company Officer currently has low student numbers and is in danger of being canceled. 

 

October 19-20, 2021 -Wildland Urban Interface Firefighting for the Structural Company Officer

This two-day course identifies operational activities and safety concerns for

structural Company Officers (COs) assigned to a wildland urban interface (WUI) incident.

Topics covered include:

  • Introduction to WUI firefighting,
  • Interface environment,
  • Wildland fire behavior,
  • Command and control issues of WUI firefighting.
  • Tactics.

 

October 26-27, 2021 - Command and Control of Wildland Urban Interface Fire Operations for the Structural Chief Officer 

This two-day course is designed to provide students with the essential tools and skills to operate safely in a wildland/urban interface (WUI) incident.

Topics covered include:

  • Interface incidents.
  • Fire behavior.
  • Safety and operational considerations.
