The National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC)

Dear NVFC EMS/Rescue Section Member,

The National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC), in association with Advanced Problem Solving (APS), is seeking to identify volunteer fire departments willing to participate in a grant-funded program to improve pediatric EMS education.

The purpose of the grant is to provide online pediatric EMS training to volunteer firefighters serving as EMS providers in rural or underserved communities. The grant will fund 1,000 licenses for one year access to the APS learning platform, including its library of over 100 video-based EMS CE courses.

Paramedics, AEMT’s and EMT’s are all eligible to benefit from the free licenses, although preference will be given to fire departments that (1) are rural, (2) are primarily volunteer, (3) do not currently provide a Learning Management System or online training services to their staff, and (4) have ALS providers on staff even if those ALS providers are paid.

Recipients of the free licenses will complete an online pediatric EMS training course (40 minutes) for CE credit and respond to a short online survey. Once they do this, they will be granted access to utilize the complete APS EMS CE training library with more than 100 accredited courses.

Fire departments selected to participate in this program will also have free access to other features of the APS platform. For more information visit www.advancedproblemsolving.org.

Interested parties should contact David Andrews at david@advanceproblemsolving.org. Please include the following information in your message:

  • Your name and rank/role
  • The name of your fire department
  • The number of ALS and BLS providers in your department (two separate figures)
  • Whether your department currently provides online learning through a Learning Management System

We anticipate distributing the first 250 free licenses in January 2022, with the remaining 750 free licenses to follow shortly thereafter.

Deadline for entry of training hours 2021

is quickly approaching!

Hello everyone!

It's that time of year again; December 31, 2021, the deadline for entry of training hours, is quickly approaching. Please, do not procrastinate and wait until the last minute to enter your department's training hours. We don't mind helping but if we receive an abundance of last minute calls it will be nearly impossible to assist everyone. If you have any questions let our office know. We can all work to get these training hours behind us so we can all look forward to the holidays and the start of a new year- let's make 2022 a great one!
