COVID Letter

  Members of GSFA:

We are saddened to learn of the recent deaths of several members of the Georgia fire service due to COVID or complications related to COVID.   In an email last week, it was shared about the possibility of qualifications for the Public Safety Officers Benefit for Line of Duty Deaths.  In the month of August, there were 43 fire service deaths reported to the National Fallen Firefighter’s Foundation that may meet these parameters.   Nearly one-quarter of these are from Georgia. In light of this, we ask that you remain vigilant and take precautions for the health and safety of yourself, your family, and your fellow department members.  Many of your departments are facing strain from members having to quarantine or who are ill and also from the stress that the pandemic has put on our EMS and hospital system.  We ask that you stay focused and stay strong during these times, with compassion for mankind and eyes toward the future.

Diligently,

Board of Directors
