Fully Involved: New Fire Chief I, II, and III NFA Direct Deliveries

Fire Service Leaders,

The Georgia Fire Academy has launched the new online class Residential Safety Surveys for Fire Departments.  Residential safety surveys are a proven way to reduce fire injuries and deaths. This 1-hour online course will help firefighters lower the risk of home fire deaths by doing what they do best: helping people with simple actions that save lives. This includes installing smoke alarms and other alerting devices, helping families understand the need to keep them working, and helping them create and practice an escape plan so they will know what to do if those alarms sound.

As we enter the closing days of this Legislative Session, we have some decisions to make about HB 451, PTSD Insurance Coverage. While this bill was originally designed to be similar to our Firefighter Cancer Insurance, it has been changed a few times as it has passed through committees. The House passed it with a reduction in lump sum benefit from the original $10,000 to $3,000 and a long-term disability benefit.
