Don't Forget to Nominate a Deserving Firefighter!

GSFA Annual Awards Nominations Due July 15th

Since 1972, GSFA has recognized firefighters through its annual recognition program.  Award recipients will be recognized at the 2022 Georgia Fire Service Conference and the 2023 Firefighters Recognition Day. Recognition is given for the following categories:

 

  • Firefighter of the Year
  • Rookie of the Year
  • Training Officer of the Year
  • Company Officer of the Year
  • Educator of the Year
  • Life Saving Valor Award

 

All nominations must be received no later than July 15, 2022. For nomination forms and more information,  click here.


Submit Your Nomination to Serve on the GSFA

Board of Directors or as a District Representative

GSFA is accepting nominations for individuals to serve on its Board of Directors. Board members will serve two year term that runs from August 2022 - August 2024. For more information on the responsibilities of each position, click here.

 

Completed Board of Directors nomination forms must be received by June 15, 2022. All seats on the Board of Directors are open for nominations. 

 

The incoming President will name District Representatives soon after the Georgia Fire Service Conference. GSFA is expanding its District Representative program and would like to have several people serving in this role in each district. In addition to the responsibilities listed in the bylaws, district representatives will serve as part of GSFA's Membership Growth Committee which is working on member engagement strategies and expanding association participation across the state. 

 

If you are interested in serving as a District Representative, please submit your District Representative nomination form should be submitted by June 15th.

We kicked off NERIS development just 10 months ago as a partnership between USFA, DHS Science and Technology Directorate (S&T), the Fire Safety Research Institute (FSRI), and in collaboration with the fire service at-large.

As we enter the closing days of this Legislative Session, we have some decisions to make about HB 451, PTSD Insurance Coverage. While this bill was originally designed to be similar to our Firefighter Cancer Insurance, it has been changed a few times as it has passed through committees. The House passed it with a reduction in lump sum benefit from the original $10,000 to $3,000 and a long-term disability benefit.
