The Georgia Fire Academy is hosting the following course: Fire Investigations: First

Responders, April 30 - May 1, 2024 on GPSTC's main campus in Forsyth. 

 

Course Description: This two-day course covers a basic overview of a fire investigation for the

first responder. Students will participate in a live lecture that will review the basics of fire

chemistry and develop an understanding of the role of the first responder in relation to fire

suppression and fire investigation.

 

Topics include:

This course also stresses the importance of fire scene awareness, evidence identification,

preservation and the basics of a fire investigation. Students will develop an appreciation of the

convergence of suppression, investigation, science and law.

 

Target Audience: Fire and emergency services personnel who respond to fires or might conduct

preliminary investigations into the origin and cause of fires.
