NAFECO

Hey everyone,

As many of you know, MAFFC 2022 was a huge success and was a welcomed event considering everything we’ve dealt with the past couple of years with Covid. The MAFFC committee is already working hard and has started the planning process for MAFFC 2023. This will be our 14th annual Metro Atlanta Firefighters Conference! In order to provide the quality training classes that we like to provide, we need instructors to teach these classes. When MAFFC first started back in 2009, we wanted to not only provide great classes for our personnel to attend, but we also wanted to provide opportunities for some of our up and coming instructors to hone their skills teaching at MAFFC which hopefully opens up additional opportunities for them to go teach at other departments and conferences as well. Here’s your chance. MAFFC 2023’s Call for Instructors is now open. Here’s the link that will take you to the application: MAFFC 2023 Instructor Application The deadline for MAFFC 2023’s Call for Instructors will be October 31st.

Thanks for your dedication and good luck,

Tom Hancock – Division Chief of Training

As we enter the closing days of this Legislative Session, we have some decisions to make about HB 451, PTSD Insurance Coverage. While this bill was originally designed to be similar to our Firefighter Cancer Insurance, it has been changed a few times as it has passed through committees. The House passed it with a reduction in lump sum benefit from the original $10,000 to $3,000 and a long-term disability benefit.
