Fire Service Leaders,

The Georgia Fire Academy is hosting the course Youth Firesetting Interviewing and Educational Interventions on December 3 and 4, 2024.

This two-day National Fire Academy Course provides students with the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform an interview/screening and develop an educational intervention program for identified youth exhibiting fire misuse behaviors. The course addresses how to establish and implement these strategies to meet the needs of these youths and their families.  It is targeted for individuals with responsibilities related to practitioner functions associated with a youth firesetting intervention program for their agency or their community.

This is a direct delivery from the National Fire Academy and will be taught by Karla Klas, University of Michigan Burn Center specialist.

There are no prerequisites, though completion of Youth Firesetting Prevention and Intervention Specialist will be helpful.

The Secret List 10-9-2024-1100 Hours

All,

We never cease to smile, when regardless of what the situation, Firefighters work to fix it. But you knew that.

We just received a message from the North Carolina State Fire Marshals office, expressing appreciation and are overwhelmed with thanks, and that they currently have enough equipment to share and help numerous fire departments back up and running. Good stuff.

Will pass on any other requests we get, as we all keep Florida’s Tampa Bay and other areas in our hearts and minds this morning.

Take Care. Be Careful. Pass It On.
