BOX ALARM - GSFA NEWS ALERT

Important Information from the Georgia State Firefighters Association

March 13, 2025

TAKE ACTION TODAY: Reopen the National Fire Academy

The Georgia State Firefighters Association is deeply troubled by the federal spending cuts that have affected the National Fire Academy. Canceling on-campus and field delivery classes until further notice is a significant blow. These classes are not just a resource but also a lifeline for first responders in the United States and worldwide, providing them with training, knowledge, and expertise that cannot be obtained at the state and local levels.

The potential impact on public safety is a grave concern. The National Fire Academy and Emergency Management Institute, with its long tradition of providing the highest caliber of training, is a cornerstone of emergency services' higher learning, both nationally and internationally.

WHAT CAN YOU DO? TAKE ACTION TODAY TO REOPEN NFA:

  • Visit CFSI’s NFA Action Center for talking points and guidance on reaching out to Congress and the Administration to ask them to reopen NFA.
  • Fill out CFSI’s survey on the value of the National Fire Academy. Click on the link below to access the survey and other valuable information about this issue.

Also, write to your representatives in Congress. The following website will give you tips on how to script an email. Please click on the link below to access tips and script for an email:

We must take a stand and let them know these cuts will not be tolerated.
