Exhibit Hall open on Thursday and Friday

Make plans to visit the Exhibit Hall on Thursday afternoon during the opening reception from 4:45 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. and again on Friday from 9 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. to interact with the conference vendors and learn more about their products, services and programs.

 

Firefighters from the local area who are not registered for the conference but would still like to visit the Exhibit Hall are welcome to join us during the Friday hours (lunch will only be provided for conference participants).

Nominate a Deserving Firefighter for Recognition

 

Each year, the Georgia Association of Fire Chiefs (GAFC) and the Georgia State Firefighters Association (GSFA) annually recognize firefighters at all levels for their leadership, accomplishments and acts of valor. Award recipients will be announced at the Awards Reception at the Georgia Fire Service Conference on Saturday, October 1. They are also invited to receive a special commendation from Governor Brian Kemp during the 2023 Firefighter Recognition Day. Take a look around your department and consider nominating someone today!

Recognize Fallen Firefighters

Submit Information for the Annual Memorial Service

 

Each year as part of the Georgia Fire Service Conference, firefighters who passed away during the previous year are recognized at the annual Memorial Service, scheduled this year for Friday, September 30th at 8 a.m. Firefighters do not have to have been a member of the Georgia Association of Fire Chiefs or the Georgia State Firefighters Association to be recognized. 

 

If you have lost a current or retired member of your department since the last conference (September 2019), please submit their information so that they may be recognized. All information is due by August 15, 2022.

As we enter the closing days of this Legislative Session, we have some decisions to make about HB 451, PTSD Insurance Coverage. While this bill was originally designed to be similar to our Firefighter Cancer Insurance, it has been changed a few times as it has passed through committees. The House passed it with a reduction in lump sum benefit from the original $10,000 to $3,000 and a long-term disability benefit.
