2010 JOINT CONFERENCE

**** Pre-Conference Classes may be scheduled for Tuesday, August 3, 2010. This will be announced as plans develop and progress for the conference. Note: The main conference begins with registration on Wednesday. Reservations would be made only for Tuesday night if you were going to the class that day, or if you just want to come in early.

The Savannah Conference Center will be used for business meetings and exhibits on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. At this time, it look like all exhibits will be inside. We will move over to the Hilton on Saturday for meetings and the banquet that evening. The Center is not open on weekends and a fee would be charged if we stayed there for activities on Saturday. Ample parking is available at the Center, not sure at this time what that cost would be. The Center is also within walking distance from both hotels (a few blocks).
Contracts have been signed and you can begin making your reservations.

GEORGIA FIRE EQUIPMENT SHOW
Due to unavoidable scheduling conflicts, the Fire Equipment Show that had been scheduled for April 28-29, 2010, has been rescheduled for 2011.
The new dates for the Show are:
Wednesday, April 27, and Thursday, April 28, 2011
The Georgia Fire Equipment Show will be sponsored by the Georgia State Firefighters Association and Georgia Association of Fire Chiefs, and held on April 27-28, 2011, at the Perry Fairgrounds.
The Show will be held at the Georgia National Fairgrounds and AgriCenter in Perry, Georgia. The AgriCenter is located directly off I-75. The Miller Murphy Howard Exhibit Hall/Building will be utilized for all indoor exhibits, and a luncheon will be held on the day of the Show. Depending on the number of people registered, the luncheon may be held in one of the adjacent buildings. The location will be decided as planning on the Show progresses over the next few months. All outside areas will be available for those exhibits and demonstrations that require such.

For those of you who will be driving and not flying to Fort Lauderdale, a block of rooms have been reserved for Saturday, November 13th at the Hampton Inn -Airport, at a room rate of $109.00. A complimentary shuttle will take you to the airport as well as to the port. You can park your car at the hotel if you don't want to park at the dock/port facility. The hotel has a one-time charge of $50 for parking (regardless of number of days). The hotel # is 954-524-9900 (Hampton Inn Fort Lauderdale Airport North Cruise Port). This information will be given to Susan so she will have it when you call (if you need it) so you can make your hotel reservations.
Good news....passports are not required for this cruise.

Note from Georgia Ann: This really should be a great cruise.....the Freedom is one of their newer ships and it is beautiful.I encourage you to visit the Carnival website and 'browse' the Freedom. I took this same cruise itinerary on the Freedom last New Year's Eve. This itinerary includes a full day in port at Key West. If you have never been there, it is well worth the visit.
The cruise is not just for firefighters - family, friends and other acquaintances are welcome as well.
