Barrow County Board of Commissioners is taking applications for the position of Chief of Fire/EMA and Emergency Services. The position pay range is $60,292.00 to $70,107.00 depending on experience. Brief Job Description:
Under limited supervision, performs administrative work in the planning, organizing and directing the Department operations, ensuring departmental compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, laws, regulations, and standards of safety. Work involves directing all operations of the Barrow County Fire and Emergency Medical Services; planning, directing, and coordinating County wide Fire and Emergency Medical Services to include, but not limited to, fire suppression, fire prevention, hazardous materials, training, public fire safety and injury prevention education, investigations, support services, etc.; developing department policies, procedures, and annual budget for Fire and Emergency Medical Services. Reports to the Chairman
Minimum Qualifications:
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business, or fire science/technology supplemented by six to nine years of progressive experience and training in fire service programs and management, at least five of which have been in a supervisory capacity; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must have successfully completed required courses and certification; may be required to possess additional certification(s) as deemed necessary by the County. Must be able to obtain or possess a valid Georgia driver's license. – Barrow County would prefer the candidate to live in Barrow County and would consider given the right person ample time to move.
